DUI Arrests Up Slightly in San Diego County

SAN DIEGO COUNTY - Driving-under-the-influence arrests were up by seven this year from last year over the holiday weekend, a California Highway Patrol officer said.
CHP arrested 112 motorists for driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs, compared with 105 in the same reporting period last year, Officer Rob Sanchez said.
The statistics were compiled from 6 p.m. Friday to midnight Monday.
Five motorists were killed on San Diego County roads in traffic-related incidents in the same time, compared with four people last year, he said.
Statewide, CHP officers made 1,481 DUI arrests, compared with 1,145 last year. Thirty-eight motorists were killed in the same time period, compared with 31 the previous year.
